Aircraft interiors are designed with one priority above all else: passenger safety.
In the unlikely event of a cabin fire, it's not just flame spread that matters—it's also the toxicity of the smoke and gases released from materials inside the aircraft.
That's why we're excited to announce that Cerakote H Series and F Series coatings have successfully passed Boeing BSS 7239, Revision A Toxicity (Flaming Mode) testing, conducted by the independent aerospace testing laboratory, Aeroblaze Laboratory.
The coatings tested included:
All three coatings passed the Boeing standard.
Why is this important?
Boeing BSS 7239 measures the concentration of potentially hazardous gases produced when materials are exposed to flame. During testing, materials are evaluated for emissions including:
Keeping these emissions below established limits helps aircraft manufacturers and suppliers select materials that support cabin safety requirements and regulatory compliance.
For aerospace engineers, OEMs, and component manufacturers, coating performance goes far beyond appearance and corrosion protection. Materials used throughout an aircraft must also demonstrate they can meet demanding aerospace fire safety requirements.
This latest testing adds to Cerakote's growing portfolio of independently verified aerospace performance data, helping manufacturers specify coatings with confidence for demanding aviation applications.
